About the Scholarship

The SHHS Alumni Association, in proud partnership with The Harold Key Scholarship Endowment Fund (HKSEF), is committed to investing in the success of graduating Sam Houston High School seniors. This scholarship program supports students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, financial need, and future potential.

Each year, the SHHS Alumni Association and HKSEF award scholarships to help SHHS graduates pursue higher education at colleges, universities, vocational, or technical schools.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior at Sam Houston High School (Arlington, TX)

  • Submit a completed application and required documents

  • Demonstrate financial need and academic potential

  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary program by Fall of the graduating year

  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, or administrator

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: April 25, 2025, at 11:59 PM

  • Scholarship Awards Announced: During Senior Awards Night at SHHS in May 2025

  • Supporting Documents Due: October 31, 2025

Additional Opportunities

In past years, institutions such as the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and Tarrant County College (TCC) have offered matching grants to Harold Key Scholarship recipients. These offers are not guaranteed each year, so students are encouraged to contact the schools’ financial aid offices for the most current information.
