THANK YOU

We are continually honored each and every time that the SHHS Alumni Association receives recognition in the community. Our organization would not be what it is today without our founding members, past and present board members, general membership, generous volunteers and donors, and of course the faculty, staff, and administration of Big Sam. Because of you, we are Texans helping Texans.

Seven grants were awarded in the first year of the program in 2012, an additional 11 were presented in both 2013 and 2014, and ten were given in both 2015 and 2016." – MLB Press Release

Community Engaged for Excellence Award of Appreciation, awarded November 2015

It is our pleasure to announce that the SHHS Alumni Association has been awarded the Community Engaged for Excellence Award of Appreciation by AISD.

We are the first civic, non-profit organization directly related to a school to be in receipt of this award. We are also the first organization to have AISD Administration and Board of Trustee members come to us for their presentation. Those in attendance at the November General Meeting were able to hear the kind words and see this wonderful presentation.

We absolutely could not do what we do without the support of a general membership which spans the course of fifty years. (At our meeting, we had both the Class of 1965 and Class of 2015 represented!) We are grateful for our founding members as without them we would not exist. We are grateful for those who have helped their vision come into fruition. Thank you all for everything that you do to support our endeavors for the betterment of the Sons and Daughters of Sam Houston High School. Thank you Dr. Cavazos, Mr. Perales, Board of Trustees and all who participated in the process of selecting the SHHS Alumni Association for this award.

We are incredibly grateful and honored.
